What eHarmony actually costs
Headline range: roughly $19 to $37 a month, depending entirely on how long a term you buy. The number that matters more is the total, because there is no monthly plan and no refund on the unused part of a term.
The three things to know
One. There is no month-to-month plan, and six months is the minimum. Two. You are buying the whole term, and cancelling does not refund it. Three. The sign-up discount almost never applies to the renewal.
Why there is no monthly option
This is deliberate and it is arguably the product working. A six-month minimum is a filter: it removes people who are browsing, testing the water, or looking for something casual. The filtered pool that eHarmony users pay for exists precisely because the pricing is inconvenient. Whether that trade is worth it to you is the actual question, and our full review takes it on.
It also means eHarmony cannot be trialled. If you want to test a paid platform for 30 days before committing, Match is the only realistic option in this category, and that is a fair reason to start there.
The terms, compared

We deliberately do not publish exact dollar figures per term. eHarmony runs near-continuous promotions, varies pricing by region and by session, and the number you are shown at checkout is the only one that counts. The pattern above holds regardless: longer term, lower monthly rate, higher total.
The renewal, which is where people get caught
Register, and a promotional discount typically appears within the first day or so, often a large one on the opening months of a plan. Take it; it is real. Then understand what it is not: a permanent rate.
Plans auto-renew at the end of the term, and the renewal is priced at standard rates rather than the promotional rate you signed up at. People who paid a discounted price for six months and then saw a full-price twelve-month charge land are the reason eHarmony's public review scores sit where they do. The complaint is about billing, not about matching.
The two-minute fix
Immediately after subscribing, turn auto-renew off in account settings, then add a calendar reminder for one week before the term ends. You keep everything you paid for, for the full term. You just do not get charged again by surprise. Do this on day one, not in month five.
What the money actually buys
eHarmony's pricing is all-in: the plan covers the feature set rather than selling communication tools separately. That compares favourably with Match, where the subscription is the base and several useful features are add-ons. The eHarmony total is still higher, but it is a more honest total.
Is it worth it?
Worth it if you are dating with real long-term intent, live somewhere with enough people to make a filtered pool viable, and can absorb six months of spend without resenting it. Not worth it if you want to browse, if you are unsure about paying at all, or if your local match volume on the free tier looks thin. Check that free match volume first. Common questions
Does eHarmony have a monthly plan?
No. This is the single most misunderstood thing about eHarmony pricing. The shortest term is six months. Any "per month" figure you see is a monthly average of a multi-month term, not a monthly plan you can cancel after 30 days.
Can I pay eHarmony in instalments?
Usually yes. Terms can typically be split into two to four payments rather than one lump sum. That spreads the cost but does not shorten the commitment. You are still buying the full term.
Is there an eHarmony discount?
There is nearly always a promotion running, and a substantial one tends to appear in the hours immediately after you register. That discount usually applies to the first term only. The renewal is priced at the standard rate.
How much does eHarmony cost after the first term?
More than you paid, in most cases, because the sign-up discount does not carry over. This is the mechanism behind the majority of billing complaints against eHarmony. Turning off auto-renew on day one removes the problem entirely.
Can I get a refund if I cancel?
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not refund the unused portion of the term you already bought. Budget for the full term at the point of purchase and treat it as spent.
Is eHarmony free at all?
The account, questionnaire and seeing your matches are free. Messaging is not. Use the free tier to check whether there are compatible people within a reasonable distance before you pay for anything.
