Zoosk review: the cheap option, and what that costs you
Zoosk is the easiest and cheapest platform here to get started on. It is also the one with the most question marks over it, and they are not all about the product.

Zoosk's parent company, Spark Networks, entered insolvency proceedings in Berlin in January 2026. In April, the same group shut EliteSingles down permanently with roughly two days' notice to paying members, deleting profiles and message history. Zoosk is still running and there has been no closure announcement. But if you subscribe, subscribe short.
With that established: Zoosk is a decent product at a low price. It launched in 2007, was acquired by Spark Networks in 2019, and has always differentiated on behavioural matching rather than questionnaires. There is no hour-long personality test. You sign up, you start looking, and the system learns from what you do.

- Cheapest way into a paid dating platform in this group, especially on a six-month term.

Behavioural matching, in practice

The weakness is inherent to the approach. It optimises for what you click on, and what people click on is not always what they are looking for. If your browsing habits and your actual intentions diverge, Zoosk will follow the habits. A questionnaire model like eHarmony's is slower but harder to mislead.
The profile quality problem
This is the recurring complaint and it deserves to be stated plainly: users report a high volume of fake, recycled and long-inactive profiles. Zoosk does suspend accounts it flags as fraudulent, but the impression across review platforms is consistent enough that you should expect to encounter some.
Two related irritations show up often. Profiles are shallow, which makes it hard to judge compatibility before paying to message. And filters are frequently reported as not being respected, distance and lifestyle preferences in particular.
Price, and why the long term is the wrong buy
A single month runs around $30 to $35. A six-month term drops the effective rate to roughly $11 to $12 a month, which is the cheapest per-month figure of any platform we compare. Under normal circumstances that would be the obvious purchase.
These are not normal circumstances. A prepaid six or twelve month term on a platform whose parent is in insolvency proceedings is a bet, and EliteSingles members found out in April what losing that bet looks like. If you want to use Zoosk, buy a month at a time and accept the higher rate as the price of not being exposed.
Where Zoosk is the right answer
- International dating. Its reach outside the US is the best of the four here.
- Low-commitment browsing, where an hour-long questionnaire is a non-starter.
- Anyone who wants a paid platform but cannot justify eHarmony or Match money.
- Anyone who prefers a system that learns from behaviour rather than one that asks questions.
Where it is not

Zoosk is the budget option and behaves like one. If you use it, use it on a short term. Committing 6–12 months of money up front to a platform whose parent is in insolvency proceedings is the kind of risk EliteSingles members just found out about.
